Below are some of the most frequently asked questions. If you still have
quetions after reading this please don't hesitate to contact the centers director,
Kristin Delaney at kristin@diabloyogacenter.com.

When can I start?
You are welcome to attend any ongoing yoga class at any time on either a
series or drop-in basis. You don't need to wait for the beginning of a new series, except for special classes such as Introduction to Yoga, Yoga for Back Care,
and Zen Meditation.

How much does it cost and how do I pay?
You can buy a single session called a "drop-in" rate or you can buy a book
of sessions in increments of 5, 10 and 15. Payment is accepted at the time
of class. For a complete listing of costs please visit our classes and fees page.

What to bring and how to dress
We have mats to use if you don’t have one. Please wear loose-fitting shorts, or leotards and tights that do not cover the feet. Do not eat for at least an hour or
two before class and come prepared to practice in bare feet.

Do I have to be really limber and in good shape?
No. In fact the very reason many people choose yoga is to become more
limber, increase their range of motion and tone and stregthen. Each class encourages you to move at your own pace and within your own comfort zone.

Which classes are best for beginners?
The following classes are good for students who are new to yoga. All of these
classes are available on a drop in basis.

Monday 9:30-11am with Debbie Gilman. Debbie’s style is great for beginners,
kind and gentle with attention to detail. She is excellent with new students.
Tuesday 5:30-6:45pm and Saturday 11:00-12:30am with Lauren Davis.
Lauren’s class is a challenging one, but on the light side using a bit of humor.
Wednesday 3:45-5:00pm with Greg Riley. Greg guides his students through
breath and wisdom, creating a class that helps students achieve their potential.
Thursday 7:15-8:30pm with Lauren Davis. This is the most beginning class for beginners or students who want to go back to the basics.
Friday 11:30-1:00pm with Mary Cameron Smith. This class is Yoga for 50+
and is a very gentle class and all students are welcome. It’s not just for seniors. Mary is excellent at dealing with issues that might be hindering your practice.

What can I expect to get out of Yoga?
Unlike stretching or fitness, yoga is more than just physical, it incorporates mind, body and soul. Yoga is unique because we connect the movement of the body and the fluctuations of the mind to the rhythm of our breath. Connecting the mind, body, and breath helps us to become more aware of our experiences from moment to moment. The awareness that we cultivate is what makes yoga a practice, rather than a task or a goal to be completed. Your body will most likely become much more flexible by doing yoga as the space inside of you opens and your muscle lengthens, your mind will become more relaxed and you will likely experience a high level of stress reduction.
